Effects:

Hormone-Sensitive Breast Cancer Treatment: Aromasin is commonly prescribed to postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. This type of cancer relies on estrogen to grow and spread. Aromasin works by inhibiting the enzyme aromatase, which is responsible for converting androgens (male hormones) into estrogen. By reducing estrogen levels, Aromasin helps to slow down or halt the growth of hormone-sensitive breast tumors.

Reducing Risk of Recurrence: Aromasin, when used as part of adjuvant therapy, can help reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence in postmenopausal women who have already undergone primary treatment (surgery and/or radiation).

Alternative to Tamoxifen: Aromasin is often used as an alternative to tamoxifen, another type of hormone therapy for breast cancer. Some women may switch to Aromasin after completing a course of tamoxifen.

Bone Health: While tamoxifen can have adverse effects on bone density, Aromasin has been shown to have a positive effect on bone health. It is less likely to cause bone thinning (osteoporosis) and may even have a protective effect on bones.

Adverse Effects:
